The Lexi Cinema in Willesden will be screening the new documentary about David Millar, called ” TIME TRIAL” at 6:30pm on Thursday 19th July 18.
This is a once-off screening of the film and it will also include a pre-recorded Q&A with David and the film’s director afterwards.
David Millar having excelled in cycling at the highest level was then found guilty of doping and punished with a 2 year ban. He returned as a spokesperson for clean cycling, and he helped to set up Team Sky in 2010. David is an articulate, intelligent character, and this documentary was conceived of to record his valedictory year – 2014 – where he rode in the season’s big races before he retiring at the age of 37.
A mini camera was fitted to his handlebars, and the film makers got permission to film from the heart of the peloton during races, providing great insight! When a fading Millar is dropped from the Tour de France squad, though, the documentary is presented with a more interesting narrative: Millar is seen wrestling with his sense of waning power, and the humiliation of failure.
The film has an 18 certificate and lasts just over 80 minutes.
The Lexi is a small and beautiful cinema in Kensal Rise, Willesden.
