Sundays Hill Climb, the last Combine time trial event of the season, saw Willesden’s very own Tom Zittel take the honours for the event with a time of 1.46. Of the 40 odd riders taking part 9 were from the Willesden. The only other rider to break 2 minutes on the hill was Phil Hutchison from Amersham RCC who took second place with a time of 1.59. In terms of the club competition Tom was 1st with Stuart Birnie and Ed Packard taking 2nd with identical times of 2.06.

well ridden Tom – not a fun hill to climb! Stuart must be pleased with another 2:06! I thought I’d done 2:07 so maybe they recalculated afterwards.
Great event – well worth the early start from Ipswich! Good to see so many old and new faces, and a lovely pit stop afterwards at the Zittels – fantastic coffee, cakes and bacon rolls.

2:06 is bang on what I rode last year but that was taken from the second attempt.
I would’ve been more pleased with the time of the first ride! 😛
Best bit about it all is I never have to ride a hill climb again. 😀
extrapolating from this data, I conclude I should be able to match hippy in a 12 hour, provided he rides another 12 hour beforehand.
Why no time for Marianne? She did ride up the hill. Purdy has a photo to prove it. Also what happened to our possible new member called Adam who left his gear in our boot and rode? Questions may be asked in the House!!!!
I think the egg timer may have broken for some of the riders.
