As someone who has never ridden an Audax in Scotland, I found this beautifully and very professionally produced video by Fergus Coyle fascinating. Fergus — along with his highly specialised, video-equipped bike — joined the riders on the final event of the “Wintersmith” series of four rides organised by Lucy McTaggart.
The series of four 100 km routes are designed to keep riders winter-fit whilst showing off the quiet, scenic roads of the Scottish Borders during the colder months. Organised by the Scottish Borders Randonneurs, Riders who complete the full series are presented with a rather special commemorative medal, as seen in this video.
As previously reported on this blog, Mark Brooking decided he would quite like one of these medals and duly made four round trips to Scotland to achieve his aim. Mark features in the video in his eye-catching pink Willesden CC jersey.
