Earlier this year we lost Tim Wainwright, a highly respected and loved member of our club. Tim lived in Sanderstead, Croydon and rode many miles though the lanes of Kent. His great friend and riding companion, Mark Green, is inviting us all over to Kent on Sunday 16th July for a ride through the lanes that Tim loved.
The ride will be about 80 miles long but there will opportunities to cut it short if you wish. It will be social ride run at a speed to suit the group. Mark has put a great route together and it will be a real treat for those of not familiar with riding over the that side of London!
We will meet at Sanderstead station at 9:30am. The station has car parking and is less than 30 minutes away from Victoria by train. Mark is planning to make the first stop at Lullingstone to admire the lilac fields. From there we will then head along Pilgrims Way to Otford and then on to Plaxton, Wateringbury and then finally to Rochester where we will make the turn for home. We will be passing tea rooms and pubs along the route so we should have plenty of opportunity for refreshment.
It will be good to have some idea of numbers so could you either leave a comment or leave or a “like” on the Facebook posting here
Warmest regards, John Davies
I’m keen to join the Remember Tim ride on 16th July, but not for the whole route. Because I live in Kent, it would be simpler for me to meet at the first stop at Lullingstone, if I know exactly where you’ll be and have a rough idea of your expected arrival time. The fields to be admired, by the way, are likely to be lavender rather than lilac, and the smell is as good as the sight.
