Looking for a 2017 challenge? Try the revamped club 400 audax next April!
The Willesden’s annual spring 400km audax has undergone a bit of a facelift. And members are being challenged to see if they can cope with a full day in the saddle.
We’re run the Severn Across for 14 years but from next year it is rebranded as the London-Wales-London along with a few refinements. It takes place on Saturday 29 April 2017.
The much loved route goes from Chalfont St Peter to Chepstow and back. Riding at speeds of between 15 and 30 kph entrants visit Woodstock, Tewkesbury, the Severn Bridge, Malmsbury and Lambourn. Everyone gets a night ride and to enjoy the unique companionship that comes with audaxing.
In recent years Willesden riders have always made a good showing and although the format changes are intended to attract a new type of audaxer, the organisers hope that club members can ensure a good Willesden presence on the road and in the controls.
Volunteers have already come forward to staff the control at Lambourn but help is needed at the 6am start on the Saturday and at the finish through Saturday/ Sunday night. Volunteers to test the route a week or two before are most welcome.
