WoW Ride Report – 18th March 2026

Well, yesterday saw our second WoW ride of 2026, following a gap of several weeks since our inaugural mid-February outing. Seven riders rolled out from Beaconsfield, becoming a great eight at the H’Artisan Café when Ian W. joined us, having driven out to meet the group.
The weather was superb, we could see that it tempted far more riders than usual out onto the lanes. Many of them were dressed as if for the south of France in August. Our Willesden group was rather less adventurous, with only Sue opting for shorts. The rest of us were layered up from wrist to ankle to neck, braced for the notoriously chilly descent from Beaconsfield shortly after the start.
By the time we reached the café, my often-joked-about pannier proved its worth as a repository for discarded layers of fleece and thermals. I rolled back into Beaconsfield with 17°C showing on my Wahoo — though it felt warmer.
WoW (Willesden on Wednesday) rides are organised via the WhatsApp group “WoW Ride” within the Willesden Cycling Club Community. If you’d like to join us, please sign up there.
If you’re not yet a member of Willesden CC, do consider joining our historic club, now over 100 years old. Membership is free — just visit the website and click on the “Join Us” tab.
